Conclusion
There is a knowledge and skills gap between where emerging radiology leaders want to be and where they are at present.
There are no specific radiology-specific leadership initiatives in the UK.
The RCR are developing a multifaceted RCR clinical leadership strategy embedding strong clinical leadership at the core of RCR work and values

Next steps for the RCR leadership development team include:
- Development of an action learning/mentoring programme for keen emerging leaders with senior radiologist mentors who have significant management experience
- Involve trainees and new consultants in RCR projects to help develop their leadership skills.

medical education and patient safety RCR workstreams
- Welcome letters and packs for new consultants to explain RCR function and opportunities for involvement
