Conclusion

Constant monitoring and analysis of contrast media administration in a large Diagnostic Imaging Department including different hospitals can be easily carried out through automated systems and it may represent a powerful health policy tool to optimize protocols and workflows even in terms of patient safety. Furthermore, the establishment of a fixed volume and of weight-based dosing regimens may play a central role in the management of the cost of administered iodinated contrast material in CT examinations.
