Findings and procedure details
From 1964 to 2012,
47 patients with PAVM were examined.
Men prevailed - 29 people,
women were 18.
Age ranged from 6 to 49 years.
Single PAVM were diagnosed in 20 patients,
multiple PAVM were diagnosed in 27 patients.
Bilateral lesion was diagnosed in 18 patients.
Previously,
the main diagnostic method was angiopulmonography.
With the advent of CT scanners,
this group of patients was subjected CT angiopulmonography.
Until 1980,
the only method of treating patients with PAVM was surgical and included 29 lobectomies,
1 pneumonectomy,
1 explorative thoracotomy.
Since 1980,
X-ray endovascular embolization (XEE) has become the method of choice for treating patients with PAVM.
Only 3 patients underwent resection of the lungs.
In 11 patients performed 17 XEE.
Used obturators,
spirals Gianturca and Flipper and occluder Amplazer Vascular Plag.
