Methods and materials
Prospectively,
were evaluated 73 patients with suspected musculoskeletal tumor.
All patients underwent imaging guided percutaneous biopsy (PB): Ultrasound or computed tomography by musculoskeletal radiologist in consultation with orthopedic oncologist for interventianal approach.
After providing the histological diagnosis an open biopsy was done by ortopedic oncologist.
Surgical removal of the lesion wos done within a week.
Patients were categorized by biopsy type,
tissue type,
and tumor type.
Gold standard was histological diagnosis provided from surgical speciment.
Ultrasound guide percutaneous biopsy was done in 58 pts (79.5%) and computed tomography guided percutaneus biopsy was done in 15 cases (20.5%).
Statistical analysis was done.
