Results
Out of 15 patients who underwent MRI with clinical suspecion of transverse vaginal septum only 7 patients met the inclusion criteria as no signs of obstruction were found on initial MRI of these patients.
Rest of the 8 patients who were excluded from the study had obstructed septum with associated hematocolpos/hematometrocolpos and of these 8 patients had OHVIRA syndrome.
Endovaginal gel was instilled in all 7 patients who met the inclusion criteria.
All of them presented with infertility and 5 with additional complian of difficulty in intercourse due to reduced functional length of vagina.
All seven patients had perforated transverse vaginal septum on post gel MRI.
5 out of these 7 patients had no evidence of additional vaginal or uterine anomalies.
Two of these five patients had high vaginal septum and rest of three had low vaginal septum.
all these five patients underwent septoplasty and two of them concieved few months after surgery.
2 out of 7 patients had low vaginal septums along with associated uterovaginal anomalies.
1 of these two patients had a malformed cervix and vagina with abscent vaginal fornices,
a single passage of vaginal and cervical canals and patulous external cervical os.
This patient underwent vaginoplasty.
The other one of these 2 patients had associated vagino urethral fistula. This patient underwent septoplasty and repair of fistula along with vaginoplasty.
