This study was approved by the Hospital Centre Ethics Committee and the Administration Board. Each participant gave his written consent after being present with the information sheet where all the pertinent information was explicit. All the necessary measures were taken into account to guarantee de participants privacy. The study was developed in three phases:
- Phase I - Identification of information systems that are relevant for the daily practice of radiographers and radiologists and what relevant information they provide.
- Phase II - Gathering information needs of medical imaging professionals and the quality of the existing data. An online data survey was applied, using a dedicated platform provided by the University of Aveiro. Characterization of the study population was performed using variables such as gender, years of professional activity and area of performance. The survey was composed by eight groups of questions focused on biographic patient data, referring physician data, patient condition, clinical information and clinical question to clarify, clinical background, counterindications and relevant information to pass on to the referring physician or radiologist. Information analysis was performed using a 6-point Likert scale (0 – inexistent; 1 – Insufficient; 2 – Reasonable; 3 – Good; 4 – Very Good; 5 - Excellent) for a better information quality assessment [11].
- Phase III - Analysis of the information reported in phase II: descriptive statistics analysis was performed to characterize the population and information quality.
