Background/introduction
••Across the world,
a rallying appeal for health professionals to adhere to the principles of radiation protection and radiation safety has been launched (Bonn Call for Action,
2012).
This has led to the implementation of many successful awareness campaigns such as Image Gently or Image Wisely in the United States,
or Eurosafe in Europe, Canadasafe,Asiasafe,Japansafe,Afrosafe,
and Latinsafe.
•ARABSAFE was launched during the Pan Arab Association of Radiological Societies (PAARS) congress organized in Marrakech (Morocco) on 2017.The initiative to create ARABSAFE is an opportunity in continuity of the global approach in the field and the PAARS is the appropriate space to ensure such a task because involving all the scientific societies of the Arab speaking countries integrating all the professionals of health essentially the radiologists MD for an effective dissemination.•The success of the campaigns over the world take in consideration the particularities and specificities of each country in order to ensure a good dissemination with a balanced distribution of burdens between countries at the regional and sub-regional levels. •This also includes the individual choices of languages used in each country to address its professionals in the field and the general public keeping in mind the differences and the common aspects of all Arab countries.
What these countries have in common is the Arabic language and some cultural similarities. •
