Description of activity and work performed
-ARPA (Asturian Radiology Association) chose 3 Recommendations,
in the context in the EMERGENCY ROOM (ER):
- NOT-to-do head X-ray study in trauma cases (no non-accidental trauma)*
- NOT-to-do pelvic X-ray study in polytrauma protocol patient
- NOT-to-do "routine" decubitus-erect abdomen X-ray study in acute abdomen not suspected of obstruction/perforation
-WHERE DO WE PART??: Data was analyzed from January-June 2018 in each of the 8 regional hospitals for each X-ray study
- Working on RESULTS:
- 80-85%of the performed abdomen Xray studies were not necessary
- Head and pelvic x-ray studies in this clinical setting were still being performed.
- Working on IMPLEMENTATING the "Not-to-do" Recommentations:
- Adressing with talks,
clinical meetings,
in educative forums for residents the obtained data
- Emphasyzing the radiation-induced risks,

security reasons,...
LESS is BETTER culture of safety
- Offering direct resources in managing day-to-day patients,
photocopies ,
leaflets,
bibliography
- giving FEEDBACK-RESULTS
