Purpose or learning objective
It is a patient’s right to be informed on the benefits and risks of the procedure he/she will be undergoing. The Euratom/2013/59 directive strengthens this requirement in article 57 1(d) in relation to the benefits and risks associated with the radiation dose from a medical exposure with ionising radiation.
However, it is not self-evident to bring this requirement into practice. The purpose of this project was to provide the Belgian departments performing X-rays procedures, with the necessary guidance and material to inform patients and to train the staff on that subject.
The provided material should be ready-to-use but on the other hand also adaptable to departmental or hospital guidelines or insertable into existing material.
