PERIODONTAL TISSUE INJURIES
Concussion and Subluxation
- radiographic abnormalities are not expected in these injuries and diagnosis is made clinically
Extrusive Luxation
Expected Imaging Findings;
- Widening of periodontal space (usually apically)
- Tooth may appear elevated in occlusal plane (not definitive)
Lateral Luxation
Expected Imaging Findings;
- Asymmetric widening of periodontal space (usually apically)
- Fracture of Alveolar bone
Intrusive Luxation
Expected Imaging Findings;
- Loss of periodontal space
- Tooth intruding into alveolar bone
- Asymmetrical height of cemento-enamel junction compared to surrounding teeth
Avulsion
Expected Imaging Findings;
- Empty socket
INJURY TO SUPPORTING BONE
