Domestic violence,
in all of its forms (child abuse,
woman abuse and elder abuse) is pervasive in Western society.
In Western society the family is the single most common locus of violence.
It is impossible to separate one form of domestic violence from another.
Every health care provider should be sensitized to the possibility that the patient may be a victim of intentional trauma.
The recognition and reporting rate of adult domestic violence victims is quite low when compared to the actual prevalence.

Although traumatic injury represents only the tip of the iceberg in patients who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence,
in the patients with hidden trauma,
the radiologist is able to suspect the possible violence by the discrepancy between the clinical history and the severity of the fractures,
the age of the fractures and mechanism of fracture.

Conclusion
In Western society the woman abuse is an increasing social and medical emergency,
that needs a multi discipinary approach.
Most compelling,
is the findings that thevictims of domestic violence were 7.5 times more likely to experience head,
neck,
and face (HNF) injuries,
than other trauma patients.
Radiology could have an important role to sospect and to document the effects of violence.
