Aims and objectives
Behçet’s disease is a chronic relapsing systemic vasculitis that can involve almost every organ and systems in the body with extremely different diverse manifestations.
Vascular involvement in Behçet's disease can lead to life threatening serious complications.
We discuss efficiency of endovascular treatment of vasculitis in Behçet's disease.
Methods and materials
We retrospectively evaluated 14 patients (13 men+1 woman) who has vasculitis related to Behçet's disease and received endovascular treatment.
Mean patient age was 39 years.
CT angiography scan performed to all patient before endovascular treatment.
Nine patients had aortic(with %63 infrarenal aortic involvement),
2 patients had pulmonary artery aneurysm,
1 patient had ICA( cavernous segmentaneurysm),
1 patient had brachialartery aneurysm,1 patient had popliteal artery aneurysm.
All patient refered to our department from emergency service.Patients with aortic involvement (with %63 infrarenal involvement ) has suffered from...
Results
Whole patients (n:14) were endovasculartreated succesfully.
After endovascular flow modulator stent placement in one patient with abdominal aortic aneurysm bilateral renal artery thrombosis occured in early postoperative period.İt was treated with stent implantation and thrombolytic infusion. The other patients (n:13) treated without major complication. There was no stent thrombosis and no recurrence or residue filling in patients who treated with embolisation approach.
Conclusion
Endovascular treatment is alternative to the surgical treatment because of the less invasive nature.
Endovascular treatment with immunosuppresive therapy has most effective and safe profile in management of vasculitic complications in Behçet's disease.
