Background
Minimal invasive procedures are increasingly demanded and accepted in medical environment,
in this field,
interventional radiology develops numerous techniques,
including,
one of them,
the ablation of tumoral lesions.
The most used is thermal ablation techniques,
basically radiofrequency (RF),
however,
in recent years,
microwave (MW) has gained ground due to a theoretical better usefulness profile (1).

INTRODUCTION
Medical environment has experimented major changes with the introduction of minimally invasive therapies,
where interventional and vascular radiology procedures has becomed essentials in modern medicine.
Many diagnostic and therapeutic new indications have been added to management of disease,
specially in oncology field where treatment of tumoral lesions had experimented great.

Conclusion
Percutaneous ablation techniques such as RF and MW are becoming increasingly accepted for treatment of both benign and malignant tumors in several organs.
The two methods differ in their action mechanism,
with MV having better profile over RF in terms of ablation volume,
procedural time and predictable homogeneous ablated area independent of tissue properties.
Even though the preponderance of data suggest inherent advantages of MW over RF,
