Methods and Materials
MRI:
PoleStar-10 system, (Medtronic ltd.) open, parallel bi-planar permanent-magnet system;10 cm3 FOV; 0.12Tesla
To take advantage of the fact that our experiments were of ex-vivo samples we added to the protocol non interventional MRI systems capable of high resolution and Diffusion Weighted MRI protocols
Thus, two additional MRI systems were used:
- DRX 300WB vertical NMR spectrometer (Bruker, Germany) with micro imaging system (Physical Chemistry Lab, TAU);
- 7T/30cm (360)BioSpec system (Bruker, Germany) equipped with a BGU20 gradient system, capable of producing pulse gradients of 400mT/m in each of the three directions (Strauss Center for MRI Studies, TAU). A 3.5cm internal diameter volume-transmit/receiver coil was used.
Cryotherapy:
SeedNet by Galil-Medical, Yokneam (Orka ltd.) }cryo-probes - MRI compatible; varied in diameter and in the shape of the “ice-ball” that they created
- principle of operation: A miniature Linde-Hampson liquefier installed at the tip of the probe, created a small bath of cryogen under the cold plate. The cryo-probe also contained miniature Joule-Thomson cryo-coolers that were exposed to two pressure sources: an argon vessel and a helium vessel. Each supply channel was separately controlled by a fast on-off valve
