Purpose

Joint preserving surgical treatment of FAI is appropriate in patients which do not present advanced degenerative abnormalities of the hip joint and severe cartilage damage [1]. The cartilage area involved in CAM impingemet may be much larger than pure pincer impingement and may be associated with large areas of cartilage delamination or fissuring [1, 3, 4].

The purpose of our work is to show the usefulness of 3D Volume Rendering (VR) and Digital Subtraction (DS), simple “cut” function and MinIP elaboration in post-processing of 32 row CT hip arthgrography. Such a type of imaging has the aim of obtaining a femoral head cartilage map and depicting the real extent of articular cartilage damage in Femuro-acetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) in order to achieve a correct treatment planning.
