Methods and Materials
Patients:
The reports of 1000 cases who were referred to our radiology department for thoracic CT with various indications over the preceding 16 months were retrospectively reviewed.
Remained 1000 patients aged from 2 to 84 years old were included the study.
373 were men,
627 were women of them.
We found 22 cases with vertebral artery outlet anomalies and 14 cases of them we used Doppler US examination.
CT Imaging Protocol:
Multi-slice CT (Aquillion 64,
Toshiba Tokyo,
Japonya) scan was performed on supine position using parameters including 64x0.5 colamination,
0.75 sec rotation time,
table motion with 2.24 cm/s gantry rotation,
300 effective mAs and 120 kV.
After determining the contrast agent transit time using the smart prep bo lus technique,
we acquired image data during an
Intravenous injection of 75 ml iodinated_contrast agent_ at a rate of 2 ml/sec.
After them,
raw images were transferred to work station (HP).
Transferred images were reconstructed by DICOM,
viewer software (Vitrea; Vital Images) and multi-planned sections were generated.
Generally,
400 WW / 40 WL levels were used on scanning.
Window adjustments were changed if needed.
Doppler US Protocol:
We found 22 cases with vertebral artery outlet anomalies and 14 cases of them we used Doppler US examination ( Toshiba,
aplio 500).
Velocity,
volume,
total volume,
resistivity index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) parameters of every two VA are utilized with Doppler US method in 14 cases.
