•Todetermine the state of the screening agency staff's knowledge about radiation
•To assess the difference between medical staffs and the clerical staffs and radiation specialists on the knowledge regarding ionizing radiation
•To comprehend the people's anxiety regarding radiation
Background
After the Fukushima nuclear disaster,
interest regarding radiation of the public has increasing.
But there are many people who suffer from anxiety by the incorrect knowledge regarding radiation in Japan.
In the screening agency,
medical examination using X-ray imaging is done day after day for the public.
Medical staffs engaged in radiation work are the subject of radiation management.
Findings and procedure details
We conducted a questionnaire survey regarding radiation subject to the staffs of the screening organization.
Answer method was the selection formula and was done anonymously.
We also provided some comment columns in this questionnaire.
We have compared the results with medical staffs engaged in radiation work(Group A : medical doctors and radiological technologists),
medical staffs not engaged in radiation work(Group B : public health nurses and nurses and clinical laboratory technicians) and clerical staff(Group C).

Conclusion
Many staffs who don’t engage in radiation duties lack knowledge of basic principles of radiation,
and they have various fears of radiation effects as well as the public.
Questionnaire recovery rate of Group B were higher,
and rate to fill in comment were higher too.
Medical staffs of Group B showed more anxiety for the radiation than clerical staffs.
It was found that lectures regarding ionizing radiation are necessary for them.
