Learning objectives
Because of the varied presentation of the celiac disease CT plays critical role not only in establishing diagnosis but also helps in excluding other conditions with similar clinical presentation.
Improved CT resolution and newer techniques (CT enteroclysis & CT enterography) now permits better depiction of the small bowel,
colon,
and mesenteric lymph nodes,
all of which are affected by celiac disease.
Detection of celiac disease with CT will allow early initiation of treatment to prevent the morbidity associated with a delay in diagnosis.
- To learn the technique of MDCT enterography and role of MDCT enterography in the diagnosis of adult celiac disease.
- To discuss the pathophysiology of celiac disease.
- To know the different MDCT signs of celiac disease
