LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The purpose of our educational exhibit is to:
Review sarcoidosis in terms of clinical manifestations,
diagnosis,
prognosis and treatment;
Analyse and illustrate the radiologic manifestations of sarcoidosis in multiple anatomic locations,
particularly in thorax,
breast,
upper abdomen,
musculoskeletal system and central nervous system.

INTRODUCTION
ΩSarcoidosis is a systemic disease of unknown cause,
with a variety of clinical and radiologic manifestations and with variable prognosis.
Commonly,
it affects young and middle-aged patients,
with a slightly higher prevalence in women.
The most common radiologic finding is bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy.
Right paratracheal,
left aortic-pulmonary window and subcarinal lymph node involvement can also be seen,
often withpulmonary infiltrates associatedFig. 1.
Extrathoracic involvement is the first manifestation of diseasein 50%of symptomatic patients.

THORAX
Thoracic involvement is reported in up to 90% of patients and oftenmanifests as asymptomatic mediastinal lymph node involvement.
More than 40 years ago,
it wasdeveloped a sarcoidosis staging system based on the pattern of chest radiographic findings,
a system still widely used because of its great prognostic value. There are five radiologic stages of thoracic changes and50%of patients present with stage 1.
Although hilar adenopathy is easily recognized on chest radiographs,
computed tomography (CT) is superior for demonstrating subtle mediastinal...
Conclusion

CONCLUSION
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder.
The knowledge oftypical and atypical radiologic manifestations of sarcoidosis in differentanatomic locations,
thoracic and extrathoracic,
plays a essential role in thediagnosis.
