Methods and materials
The Boehler’s angle was measured by three independent raters on 130 consecutive lateral digital radiographs of the uninjured calcanei in the adult Croatian Caucasian population (30–69 years) (Fig 1).
The angle was formed by two lines connecting the apices of the anterior calcaneal process and the posterior calcaneal facet and the apices of the posterior calcaneal facet and the posterior calcaneal tuberosity (Fig 2).
The enthesopathy of the Achilles tendon and the plantar aponeurosis,
the calcaneal spur and the supramalleolar fracture of the fibula along with x-rays taken through the immobilization material were included in the study.
There were no calcaneal fractures or cases of osteomyelitis.
Statistical analysis
All reported P values were 2-tailed with a level of <.05 indicating statistical significance.
The linear correlation with age was analyzed with Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient (rp) and the coefficient of determination (r2).
To examine the association with sex and laterality,
point biserial correlation coefficient (rpb) was used.
The interrater reliability was calculated using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).
