Methods and materials
A retrospective study was conducted from 06/01/ 2014 – 26/07/2015 in which all the patients that were referred to the clinical imaging department in the Women’s Hospital of Hamad Medical Corporation to rule out Invasive Placental Disease (IPD) were selected based on our following inclusion and exclusion criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
All patients with US,
MRI and Intraoperative findings during this period were included.
Exclusion Criteria:
Patients without US,
MRI or Intraoperative findings were excluded.
True Positives/Negatives and False Positives/Negatives were calculated for US and MRI separately.
With the help of 2 x 2 table and Fishers test various statistical parameters were calculated and results were compiled.
The MR protocol we applied is as follows:
-HASTE 3 planes localizer.
- T2 HASTE thin slices in three planes (axial,
sagittal and coronal)
-T2 HASTE (SSFSE) coronal oblique thin sections from both sides
-T2 TRUFI in a sagittal plane
-T1 in sagittal and coronal planes.
-T2 TSE in an axial plane.
In our study,
we used the intraoperative findings as the gold standard to diagnose IPD.
Other parameters like clinical history,
obstetric history,
age and histo-pathological findings were also collected.
