Background
Chest radiography (CXR) remains an important modality for evaluation of the lungs and mediastinum and provides vast amount of useful information.
A CXR is two dimensional representation of a three-dimensional structure and a CXR includes many overlapping structures.The information derived from the configurations andinterrelationships of anatomic structures in the lung,
mediastinum,
and pleura forms the basis for the understanding of “Lines and Stripes” on CXR.
The proportion of missed lung cancer on CXR is about 25%-90%,
and major contributing factor is superimposed normal structures.

Conclusion
Chest radiography still remains one of the most basic and widely used imaging examinations in radiology.
All diagnostic radiologists need to have an effective and efficient search pattern that takes into account the common blind spots.
Every inch of chest radiograph needs to be assessed,
and radiologic blind spots deserve extra attention.
Radiologists must develop a routine when examining chest radiographs that ensures that all areas are scrutinized.
