Methods and materials
205 lesions of the peripheral zone and 206 of the transitional zone were histologically proven by MR-guided biopsy based on an suspicious PIRADS Version 2 classification of a multiparametric prostate MRI.
The patients underwent an inconclusive TRUS-biopsy.
All scoring points were analzyed according to PIRADS Version 1 and 2 (see examples at slides 5-15) with special focus on T2w-based scoring both at ther peripheral and transitional zone.
The largest diameter in any of the 3 dimensions was calculated (T2w images in 3mm slice thickness tra,
cor and sag available as well as paracor).
6 size groups were used: largest diameter <=5mm (S1; n=15),
largest diameter <=10mm (S2; 104),
largest diamater <=15mm (S3; n=180),
largest size <=20mm (S4; n=61),
lesions with a size of <=25mm (S5; n=31); and all those with larger size >25mm (S6; n=22).
PIRADS scoring of morphology was compared to histopathologic outcome (malignancies:n=209; other histopathologic results:n=202) reflecting size and scoring of T2w dependent from location according to Version 1 and 2 of PIRADS Score.
All cases were verified by endorectally performed MR-guided biopsy.
A short description of this intervention is given in slide 18.
