Results
After the biopsy,
the specimens sent for pathological analyses where the following results were detected: adenocarcinoma - 187,
atypical gland suspected of adenocarcinoma - 22,
adenomyomatosis hyperplasia - 45,
atypical adenomyomatosis hyperplasia - 47,
atrophy and inflammation - 30,
high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia - 16 (Table 2).
There were noted 21 cases (6.1%) from the 347 patients having experienced complications,
including:urinary retention -7 cases or 33%,
prostatitis – 6 (29%),
vasovagal syncope -4 (19%),
temperature – 2 (9%),
hematospermia – 1 (5%),
and hematuria – 1 (5% (Fig.1).
Among the 21 patients,
4 (19,
0%) ultimately hospitalized after the biopsy: 1 - patient with hematuria,
1 – with acute prostatitis,
and 2 – with urinary retention.
All these patients successfully recovered and were discharged within one day to one week.
There were not any fatal complications.
