Aims and objectives
Itwas to evaluate the exact site of tendinosis in the supraspinatus tendon and the fat pad thickness overlying it.
The coraco-acromial ligament thickness was also measured and corelated with site of supraspinatus tendinosis.
Methods and materials
118 patients with non traumatic supraspinatus tendinopathy ranging from age of 35 to 83 years were included in the study and evaluated on 1.5 T MRI at Dr D Y Patil medical college,
pune over a period of 1.5 year.
The exact site of tendinosis was assessed and differentiated as insertional,
myo-tendinous junctional and at the level of coraco-acromial ligament.
The fat thickness between the AC joint and supra-spinatus tendon was measured,
the indentation of the tendon,

Males were predominant in the study population ie 66 (56%) as compared to females.
The most common site of tendinosis was insertional ie 42 (35 %).
Rest of the sites were in almost equal proportions.
On applying Anova’s one way test the f-ratio value was 12.23.
the p value was 0.00001 and significant <0.05....
Conclusion
The fat pad thickness was significantly lower in the patients with myo-tendinous junctional and insertional with junctional tendinosis as compared to insertional alone,
below the coraco-acromial ligament alone and insertional along with below coraco-acromial ligament.
The coraco-acromial ligament was significantly thickened in case of tendinosis at the site underlying it as compared to insertional tendinosis.
SASD bursa inflammation is very commonly seen with supraspinatus tendinosis.
The indentation may be present with or without junctional tendinosis of supraspinatus tendon.
