To review the computed tomography (CT) features and common differential diagnosis of mesenteric masses based on 6 cases diagnosed in our hospital.

Background

The mesentery is a double layer of peritoneum, formed by mesothelial cells, that encloses the intestines, the omentums, vessels, nerves and lymph nodes of the abdominal cavity. Many diseases that affect the mesentery are mass-forming processes.The primary mesenteric masses are rare and their differential diagnosis encompasses a wide variety of pathologies like benign and malignant tumours, inflammatory or infectious processes. Findings and procedure details

We show 6 cases of mesenteric masses recently diagnosed in our hospital with CT in our hospital: Mesenteric cyst. Lymphangioma. Omental infarction. Small bowel lymphoma. Desmoid tumour. Malignant GIST. 1.Mesenteric cysts are a very common mass finding in the mesentery and its origin may due to a wide range of underlying causes, being the main: Lymphatic anomalies (lymphatic cyst and lymphangioma). Conclusion

Knowledge of radiological features of different mesenteric masses is important to carry out a correct differential diagnosis that guides the patient's management.
