Methods and materials
This research was a quantitative,
descriptive and correlational study.
Data was collected through self-applied questionnaires addressed to 110 patients aged between 18 years old and 85 years old after subjected to MRI examination at the University Centre Hospital of the Algarve.
The sampling method was non-probabilistic,
by convenience.
Informed consent was provided to patients before the study beyond that guaranteed the anonymity of the information.
The instrument used was the questionnaire “Communication Assessment Tool” (Makoul et al.
2007) adapted to the professional reality of the Radiographers. The 15-Item tool measures the answers on a 5 point-scale (“Poor” to “Excelent”).
The results were reported as a percentage of “excelent” ratings and mean scores.
It was also added additional items designed to collect demographic information (gender,
location,
age) and communication skills of the radiographers.
The data processing and analysis was performed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences software (SPSS) for Windows.
