Aims and objectives
The aim of this study was to evaluatepatient’s perceptions regarding the performance of the radiographersin terms of interpersonal communication skills in MRI examinations.
Moreover,
also seeks to strengthen the idea that the patient is the central figure in the entire healthcare system and that all the professional practice of the radiographershould be adapted to the holistic and multidimensional being that is the patient.
Methods and materials
This research was a quantitative,
descriptive and correlational study.
Data was collected through self-applied questionnaires addressed to 110patients aged between 18 years old and 85 years old after subjected toMRI examination at the University Centre Hospital of the Algarve.
The sampling method was non-probabilistic,

The sample was composed by 110 patients,

patients aged between 18 to 85 years old (Fig. 2).
Results of the pilot study indicate that the adapted instrument is internally consistent,
with a high reliability scale (Cronbach’s coefficient alpha = 0.964).
The highest ratings given to radiographers (Table 1) was for radiographers behavior,
such as “using comprehensive language and terms” (4,62),
“respect for the patients” (4,58) and “paying attention to the patients” (4,53).
Lowest ratings were given to “explained the next...
Conclusion
Communication with the patient takes an important part in providing quality health care. As such,

the most consistent aspects with an interaction in which the radiographer convene a stronger presence of the patients in the MRI examinationsand shows interest in their welfare are not sufficiently respected,
whereas,
the language used and the respect transmitted to the patient are aspects with notorious positive rating.
There is a need to improve the radiographer communication...
