Conclusion

The radiological findings of the disease by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis depend not only on the time elapsed since the establishment of the infection, but on the balance between the virulence of the bacterium and the host´s immune status.

The presence of mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy with a low-attenuation center is typical of primary tuberculosis in children and immunosuppressed patients.

In the immunocompromised, hematogenous spread is responsible of the typical “miliary pattern”.

The presence of cavitations in upper lobes is the classic radiological pattern of post-primary TB. Endobronchial spread of the bacillus manifests as centrilobular nodules and indicates the presence of an active disease.

The most frequent radiological finding in the infection by Micobacterium Avium Complex (MNTB) is the presence of bronchiectasis in the middle lobe and lingula with associated "tree in bud" pattern. It typically occurs in middle-aged/elderly women, without predisposing factors.
