Learning objectives
This exhibit is an attempt to collate imaging spectrum of complications in post operative liver transplant.
Background
Liver is the second most common organ to be transplanted after kidney.
Liver transplantation is performed on patients with acute and chronic liver failure.
There are two types of liver transplantations: Living Donor and Deceased Donor.
Liver transplant recipients are closely monitored post surgery for acute rejection and other complications.
While acute rejection is diagnosed on graft biopsy,
other complications require understanding of donor-to-recipient surgical vascular and biliary anastomosis.
Findings and procedure details
Imaging plays an important role in intra and post operative period of the transplant.Routine Ultrasound dopplers are performed upto Day 5 twice to detect immediate and early post operative complications if any.
Further if the USG /doppler indicate any abnormality CECT is performed for further evaluation.
MRI plays a role predominantly in the late complications,
especially Biliary.MRCP is a non-invasive imaging methodwhich can evaluatethe biliary system beyond a tight stricture in addition to assessment of the hepatic parenchyma and other intra-abdominal viscera.

Conclusion
This exhibit focusses predominanlty in cross sectional imaging in complications post liver transplantation.
