Table 2 : Qualitative evaluation results of LGE with 2D-
IR and 2D-PSIR
- Our study demonstrated that in non-ischemic heart disease,
overall image quality and quality of contrast of the PSIR sequence were significatively higher (p=0.003 and p=0.05).
- There was significatively less artifacts with PSIR sequence (p<10-3).
- In 7 patients,
the IR technique was inconclusive and didn't allow positive diagnosis.
In these cases,
we resorted to the PSIR sequence which allowed to give us the positive diagnosis in all the cases.
- PSIR sequence has demonstrated a better visibility of LGE of the right ventricle and intra-cavitary thrombi. The p value wasn't statistically significative.
- The mean number of LGE segments on 2D-PSIR was 6.1 against 3.1 on 2D-IR (p<0.001).
- It was distributed in 1.7,
2 et 2.4 segments respectively for the basal,
mid and apical myocardium with 2D PSIR; the corresponding values with 2D-IR were 1 ,
1 and 1.1 (2D-PSIR versus 2D-IR,
p =0.05).
- On 2D IR and 2D-PSIR images,
1.8,
1.26 ,0.13,
0 and 2.6,
1.76 ,0.3,
0.76 segments of LGE lesions were detected as subendocardial,
subepicardial,
midwal and patchy respectively.
