Population: The data collection was realized in a Public Hospital between June and November 2018 to 28 Radiographers.
Radiographers Knowledge Evaluation
A self-applied questionnaire and informed consent about microorganisms transmission, hands hygienization and the use and disinfection of mobile phones during their clinical practice was applied.
Microorganisms Identification
The Radiographers mobile phones and workstations of Conventional Radiology and CT were swabbed with Stuart transports medium using a standardized and aseptic technique to check the contamination.
The swabbed of mobile phones were obtained from both sides and performed before and after their clinical practice (Fig. 1).
Afterward, the samples were analyzed in a laboratory:
Cultures were inoculated on Blood Ágar (Fig. 2) and MacConkey’s plates (Fig. 3) and were incubated in an aerobic atmosphere at 37ºC for 24 hours. The growth, characteristics, and morphology of each colony were analyzed.
Based on Gram Stain, Catalase, Coagulase, Antibiotic Resistance with Oxacillin disc diffusion, Oxidase, Urease, and Indol Test’s, the microorganisms were classified in different genus.
Statistical Analysis
The data collected from the questionnaires and swabbed samples allowed to obtain a set of data that were subjected to a descriptive analysis, based on absolute frequencies and percentages. Subsequently, an inferential analysis was performed with a significance level of 5% using the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Wilcoxon and Spearman Correlation Coefficients, to achieve the specific objectives of this study.
