Background
Twitter is a powerful and far reaching social media platform that enable real-time interactions between physicians, regardless geographic and subspecialty borders.
It is meant to show content in small bits. Many physicians use the platform for networking purposes, to share interesting cases and to advocate for the interests of a particular medical specialty.
Tweets can include up to 4 images and hypertext URL links to a webpage, which allows users to share open scientific content, online resources or notifications regarding upcoming events.
It may represent a new frontier in effective communication, consultation, research collaboration and education.
Knowledge sharing through social media may as well enrich the careers of diagnostic specialties, since it enlightens the public and physicians of other specialties to the crucial role of radiologists in patient care.
