Conclusion
Different treatments for wrist ganglia have been described and there is a variation of opinion on their etiology.
The treatments range from simple observation to aspiration with or without steroid injection of various agents to arthroscopic resection and open excision .
Whilst patient age,
gender,
ganglion size or location did not prove to be useful in predicting recurrence of hand/wrist ganglia for ultrasound-guided interventions of either variety,
we have confirmed it is safe and effective,
with a minimal complication profile.
We recommend offering ultrasound guided interventional procedures of the wrist/ hand as an effective,
safe,
easily performed procedure prior to consideration of surgical intervention and to patients who prefer not to have surgery.
