Methods and Materials
Prospective monocentric study from March to June 2017.
Thirty volunteers were included in the study: 15 women and 15 men (range 20-45 years old).
Exclusion criteria were: elbow surgery,
sensory symptom,
muscle weakness.
We used 18 MHz linear array transducer (Samsung RS80A).
Volunteers were positioned with elbow extended in supination and the PIN was identified in the long axis at the elbow fold (fig 2).
We measured the anteroposterior (AP) diameter of the PIN at the entry point of the Frohse’s arcade,
5 mm upstream and 5 mm downstream.
The measures were systematically realized bilaterally.
Results were expressed as mean ± standard deviation.
T-test was used to compare diameters and results were declared statically significant at p < 0.05.
In order to perform an anatomo-radiological correlation we completed the analysis with an anatomical dissection study (Fig 1).
