Background
Paget’s disease or osteitis deformans was described by Sir James Paget in 1877.
It is a chronic skeletal disease.
It is the second most common disease in adults over 40 year old after osteoporosis.
Paget’s disease is considered a focal high bone remodelling disorder that can affect just a single bone (monostotic) or multiple bones (potyostotic form),
this results in bone hypertrophy,
cortical expansion and aberrant bone structure.
Curiously,
50 - 90% of the lesions are asymptomatic.
