The SFR(Société Française de Radiologie)has a long experience in radiation protection.
Numerous actions have been conducted by the SFR in order to improve radiation protection .
Main forms of activities provided by the SFR in this field are guideline publications,
advanced professional trainings,
clinical audits and patients’ informations.

Why to published new guidelines?
In October 2014,
the IRSN (Institut de Radioprotection et sûreté Nucléaire) published a report on the exposure of the French population to ionizing radiation in relationto medical diagnostic procedures in 2012.
82 millions diagnostic procedures using ionizing radiation were carried out in France.
CT accounted for only 10.4% of the total number of examinations,

Conclusion and Recommendations
Conclusion:
Consistent with the aims of the Eurosafe Imaging Group,
the SFR is committed toenhancing radiation protection.
Beside the publication of guidelines,
the SFR develops and promotes clinical audit tools for imaging and radiation protection.
It has thereforeimplemented a training programme for clinical audits as well asself-benchmarkingpermitting a comparison withnational diagnostic reference levels (DRLs).
