Background/Introduction
Less than two years after its launch at ECR 2014,
the ESR’s EuroSafe Imaging campaign has attracted more than 51,000 Friends including over 200 institutional supporters around the world.
This impressive number of supporters and the wide range of radiation protection activities in 2015,
which took place as far afield as Canada and Japan,
demonstrate that the ESR’s initiative comes at the right moment to have a positive and lasting impact on quality and safety in radiology.

Action 12 - Engage with other stakeholders and collaboration with related initiatives and regulatory authorities in Europe and beyond to contribute to a global safety culture in medical imaging
Several key developments took place beyond Europe,
as the ESR and EuroSafe Imaging were proud to support the launch of AFROSAFE,
an African radiation protection initiative,
at the PACORI congress in Nairobi,
Kenya in February 2015.
Other campaigns inspired by EuroSafe Imaging launched in 2015 include CanadaSafe Imaging,
Japan Safe Imaging and Latin America Safe.

Conclusion and Recommendations
EuroSafe Imaging has successfully established its Call for Action as a rallying point for comprehensive action to improve radiation protection in Europe.
Affording the European Society of Radiology's tools,
concepts and initiatives greater visibility among relevant audiences has been a significant achievement; however,
going forward it is EuroSafe Imaging's aim to make sure these efforts translate into tangible results for patients across Europe.
