Conclusion and Recommendations
The MRI compatible rotating disc phantom filled agarose gel and additional tubes with MR-contrast fluid and piston flow were built. The dynamic phantom provides the whole range of physiological velocities and can be used for calibration of MRI unites,
calculating correction factors for PC MRA and assessing the spatial resolution in 2D and 3D TOF.
Developed software tool has confirmed its efficiency,
convenience and simplicity in use and allows to minimize the duration of routine QA procedures.
The range of parameters are controlled: linear velocity and flow for 2D Phase Contrast sequences; in-flow effect,
flow saturation,
fat saturation,
relative contrast/noise effect and spatial resolution for 2D and 3D Time-Of-Flight sequences (Fig 4).
Phantom design allowed simulate flow effects in MR angiography in 3D Phase Contrast and Time –SLIP modes (Fig 5) .
The results were compared with the patient MRA data.
The improved design of the phantom,
as well as the use of available materials and elements of electromechanical part of the phantom can achieve compact size of the device and make it possible to use for evaluation different models of MRI.
The design of the phantom is protected by patents of the Russian Federation № 2579824,
