Description of activity and work performed
Several years ago was introduced in Slovakia the system of Dose Quality Control (DQC) for surveying all imaging parameters and doses obtained by patients ,by connection of the special developed software with the archivation system of the main healthcare units in Slovakia.
The DQC system allowe us to collect a great number of patient´s dose data,
based on using the legal data handling resources,
available from PACS or HIS and to analyse the dose distribution for tracking the radiation exposure history and for comparison of the received doses with the national or local diagnostic reference levels.
The figure 1.
summarizes the growth of the patients followed by DQC since the year 2013.
The dramatic growth of the tracked patient´s number in the last two years reflects the increasing number of hospitals (radiological departments) where the DQC was installed.
Tracking of patient doses will provide useful dose data for future epidemiological studies on patients who have been exposed to hundred of mGy doses to organs or a few hundred of mSv of effective dose,
particularly during childhood or pregnancy.
