Background/introduction
•The greatest challenge in addressing human health in Africa relates to:
- Human resource capacity building
- Creating specific high quality infrastructure and services
•Many countries reported that there is no adequate budget dedicated. Additionallyit is also reported that recruiting and retaining qualified staff; and acquiring,
maintaining and replacing equipment are recurrent problems in the majority of the countries. •Overall there is a general lack of adequate staffing at all levels in medical imaging ØThis has led to inadequate and sub-optimal delivery of evidence-based high quality and safe services to the patients .•There is a gross shortage of equipment .ØMoreover,
where there is equipment there is lack of adequate preventative maintenance,
replacement and upgrade plans. •The technologies for radiation medicine equipment in many countries has remained static despite the rapid improvement and availability of new technology and advanced techniques globally.••Overall there is a general lack of adequate staffing at all levels in medical imaging ØThis has led to inadequate and sub-optimal delivery of evidence-based high quality and safe services to the patients .•There is a gross shortage of equipment .ØMoreover,

the goal that all radiation-based procedures are appropriate, justifiedand optimized and a vision as all radiation-based medical procedures in Africa are beneficial.
