1. Membership in the Image Gently® Campaign in 2016 by the Pediatric Society of Paraná (SPP) (Figure 3) was followed closely by planning for a wider representation in Brazil especially in the clinical specialties.
This was exemplified through the support of the Campaign by the Brazilian Pediatric Society (Figure 4),
which became an Alliance member in 2017.
One year later,
in 2018,
the Image Gently® Campaign was launched through the Brazilian Pediatric Society on October 12th,
2018.
The Brazilian College of Radiology (CBR) is also an aligned organization (Figure 5).
At this time,
the Campaign was additionally embraced and supported by the organization of all the medical doctors in Brazil,
the Brazilian Council of Medicine (CFM) (Figures 6,
7) (6).
This commitment by these Medical Societies is very important for the sustained presence and impact of the Image Gently® Campaign.
Information was released in a variety of newsletters,
society videos and television reports (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__globoplay.globo.com_v_7080548&d=DwICAg&c=imBPVzF25OnBgGmVOlcsiEgHoG1i6YHLR0Sj_gZ4adc&r=j-26QAl7NaKfhszEzl79r-kCdpF8iY5xmj4WfxVhl-w&m=3JLz7VJf33Qw0SUUJqD3DjVS4pXrG_I4kJsgeM4-6ww&s=cYqbPY9BtUUaq8GbXJORdBfb-V8k4rhQWWeAZ-Fsc9w&e= ).
These and other Societies will promote the campaign through communication pathways including email,
newsletters and other publications as well as social media channels; the Brazilian Pediatric Society has agreed to help prepared relevant material.
The involvement of professions beyond Radiology and Pediatrics is a valuable strategy since the majority of pediatric care is performed by individuals who are not trained as dedicated pediatric experts.
In this way,
important information on informed use of ionizing radiation in medical imaging can penetrate further and faster into the medical community caring for children.
2. Plans for Image Gently® future in Brazil include:
- presenting the Image Gently® Campaign to the Brazilian Ministry of Medicine
- partnering with the Brazilian Physics Society
3. Beyond Brazil: Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR) has joined the Alliance and represents many organizations.
“We at the Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR) are very grateful for your invitation and honored to collaborate in this important alliance,
which has among its objectives the promotion of informed use of medical radiation for children.
There is no doubt that Image Gently® Alliance's goals are in tune with CIR's mission and certainly this agreement between our organizations brings the opportunity to empower efforts in this direction.”
