Background/introduction
The applications of ionizing radiation in medicine have increased greatly in recent decades. New techniques of imaging and therapy have received great attention from the scientific and medical community, improving health care level to the worldwide population. Educational and care context.
Due to the advance of new technology, medical equipment, and new radiopharmaceuticals, the justification of the exams, dose optimization and the training of health professionals involved in these procedures has become an important challenge.
The International Atomic Energy Agency underscores worldwide action (Bonn for Action) to increase the technical skills and knowledge of the risks and benefits of ionizing radiation methods for patients and healthcare professionals, and the incentive to justify radiological examinations is relevant.
The innovation of this project is to aware academic community and teaching hospital staff about radioprotection strategies.
PURPOSE/ LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To promote awareness of radioprotection to academic medical students and residents based on International Atomic Energy Agency, Image GentlyR, Image WiselyR, Eurosafe ImagingR campaigns.
To apply questionnaires about radioprotection based on international campaigns to evaluate the basic knowledge of the participants; to prepare education strategies.
