Fluoroscopic guided hip injections (FGHIs) are commonly performed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. As such procedures would involve exposure to ionising radiation, it is important to minimise the radiation exposure to patients. This audit aims to review the radiation exposure, specifically the dose area product (DAP) and the screening time (ST), of the fluoroscopic guided hip injections performed at Airedale General Hospital (AGH), as part of a continuous audit process.

A retrospective study has been done to review the fluoroscopic guided hip injections performed at AGH between July 2019 and August 2021. The mean dose area product (microGy.m2) and the mean screening time (seconds) were extracted and compared with the results from two previous audit cycles (2016/2017 and 2017/2018).
