Purpose or learning objective
In Spain, the law states that professionals that work in a radioactive facility must be taught compulsory education in radiation protection every two years. Furthermore, since 2019, this education has to be accredited by an official body [1]. In the healthcare field, there are a few departments such as radiation oncology, haematology and nuclear medicine that are also a radioactive facility. Nuclear medicine workers are the most exposed of those units, so this education is essential.
According to Spanish legislation, the responsibility of the education falls on medical physics and radiation protection departments [2]. As a matter of course, this task was done with face-to-face lessons. Due to Covid-19 pandemic crisis, it was impossible to fulfill those lessons in this manner. Thus, online courses seemed like an adequate alternative for this training.
The aim of this work is to present how to deliver mandatory radiation protection training for a nuclear medicine department on an online format.
