Los hallazgos radiológicos observados por TC,
RM y ecografÃa pueden ser de utilidad en el diagnóstico de la patologÃa periportal.
Como ya se ha comentado con anterioridad,
el signo ecográfico del manguito periportal es un fenómeno extremadamente raro,
con una prevalencia aproximada del 0,95%,
y puede observarse como de alta o baja ecogenicidad,
siendo mas frecuentes los manguitos periportales hiperecogénicos que los hipoecogénicos.
La mayorÃa de los manguitos hiperecogénicos son frecuentes en pacientes con enfermedad intestinal inflamatoria,
mientras que los hipoecogénicos se suelen asociar a enfermedades malignas,
en particular hematológicas.
En muchos casos las caracterÃsticas radiológicas resultan poco especÃficas,
pero sin embargo los hallazgos de imagen junto con la información clÃnica adecuada pueden proporcionar el diagnóstico más probable.
