Background
Orbit is an anatomically complex region enclosing the globe,
extraocular muscles,
retro-orbital fat,
neurovascular structures,
lacrimal gland and connective tissues.
It is a small anatomical area with little free space and therefore mass lesionsusually result in proptosis of the globe and can adversely affect visual acuity by causing pressure over the optic nerve or extraocular muscles.

Findings and procedure details
We wish to share the cross-sectional imaging features of various orbitalpathologies that we encountered at our radiology department.
A 16-slicer multidetector Toshiba CT scanner was used to perform the CT scans.
Additional 3D images and multiplanar reconstructions were acquired.
MRI was performed on 1.5 Tesla Achieva Nova Philips scanner.
Cases were followed till the histopathological results were obtained.
Orbital pathologies can be grossly devided into various etiologies:
Trauma
Infection / inflammation
Vascular
Neoplasia

Conclusion
A radiologist may encounter a wide variety of orbital pathologies with a long list of differentials.Good understanding of the detailed anatomy of the orbits and its contents is essential to evaluate these pathologies.
Furthermore,
athorough knowledge of the most common lesions,
their typical clinicalpresentations,
radiological appearances and key imaging features help distinguish similar looking lesions and aids in reaching aconfident radiological diagnosis.
