Aims and objectives
1.
Introduce the causes of variant angina
2.
Understand the clinical and angiographic manifestation of variant angina
3.
Show the potential of cardiac MDCT imaging to verify variant angina on the basis of our cardiac MDCT registry with 58,
372 cases.
: This exhibit aims to illustrate various imaging findings of several subtypes of variant angina
Introduction>
•Angina pectoris is caused by transient myocardial ischemia due to an imbalance between myocardial oxygen demand and supply.•Classical or stable angina is characterized by (1) the attack is...
Methods and materials
We reviewedradiologic findings ofvariant angina on the basis of our cardiac MDCT registry with 58,
372 cases.
All cases on this exhibition was confirmedas variant angina by conventional coronary angiography
Results
1.Diffuse vasospasm in the coronary artery
52-year-old man,
acute chest pain.
Compared with previous cardiac CT (A),
follow-up CT (B) showed diffuse severe stenosis at proximal LAD and concentric stenosis,
rapidly progress for 2 months suggestive of variant angina .
On coronary arteriography ,
there was no remakable finding in the baseline study (C),
but diffuse stenosis was provoked with ergonovine,
(D),
which was relieved with nitroglycerin administration (E).
2.
Typical focal vasospasm without significant atheroma in the coronary artery
41-year-old man with acute chest...
Conclusion
Understanding of 4 subtypes of variant angina and its radiological findings on cardiac MDCT is very important in patient with chest pain.
Cardiac MDCT have a potential to play an important role in diagnosing variant angina in selective patients with acute chest pain
