Methods and Materials
We studied 186 male (60 ± 6,7 years) with multifocal atherosclerosis.
All the patients underwent the measurement of BMD with X-ray absorptiometry.
Moreover,
calcium scores (CS) of coronary and brachiocephalic arteries were obtained using Agatston method by multislice CT (Siemens Somatom Sensation 64).
Evaluation of bone mineral density were performed on Norland XR 46 (Norland,
USA) according to the standard program,
which included the X-ray absorptiometry of the proximal femur in the frontal projection.
The degree of reduction in bone mineral density was evaluated by T-score according to WHO classification.
T-score is the number of standard deviations (SD) of the mean bone mass healthy population.
T-score calculation is done automatically using the software and database of standardized reference values NHANES III.
