Purpose
Purpose To evaluate the possibilities of PET with [18F]-FDG and [11C]-Butyrate in definition of BT recurrent growth and estimation of their treatment efficiency.
Methods and Materials
Method2-D-PET scans (Ecat Exact 47) with attenuation correction were performed in 26 patients in postoperative period before and after radiation and polychemotherapy to exclude the BT recurrent growth and estimate their treatment efficiency. 30-min dynamic scanning was carried out immediately after intravenous administration of 250-350 MBq [11C]-Butyrate twice: in fasting patients and 1 h after 50g glucose orally. 20-min [18F]-FDG-PET static scanning was performed 30 min post injection of 185MBq [18F]-FDG. The T/NT ratio for both radiopharmaceuticals was evaluated, as well as the uptake and...
Results
ResultsIn 16 patients with recurrent growth of malignant tumors the T/NT ratio for [18F]-FDG was higher than 0,8 (Tabl 1) [1]. In 3 patients with recurrent growth of benign astrocytoma (1 case) and benign meningiomas (2 cases) the T/NT ratio ratio for [18F]-FDG was < 0,8, but > 0,5. In 7 patients without features of the tumor recurrent growth and in 12 patients after effective treatment - the postoperative zone/NT ratio did not exceed 0,4 for both radiopharmaceuticals (RF) (Fig 2B) [3]. The T/NT ratio...
Conclusion
ConclusionSo, PET-[18F]-FDG is a precise criteria of the tumor recurrent growth and can povid the estimation of tumors treatment efficiency. Dynamic investigation with [11C]-Butyrate gives the unique information on metabolic changes in tumors that take place at the process of the treatment. It is the earliest criterium for assessment of the treatment efficiency.
